Privacy Policy
Last Updated: September 19, 2026 • Effective Date: January 1, 2026
At TechSilico (accessible at techsilico.com), one of our primary priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document describes the types of information collected and recorded by TechSilico and how we use it.
1. Information We Collect & Log Files
TechSilico follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. The information collected by log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks.
These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information for operational integrity.
2. Cookies, Web Beacons & Local Storage
Like any modern web publication, TechSilico uses 'cookies' and client-side browser local storage. These technologies store information including visitors' preferences (such as your preferred dark or light mode theme via localStorage) and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited.
The information is used to optimize the users' experience by customizing our web page content based on visitors' browser type and other preferences.
3. Advertising Partners & Google DoubleClick DART Cookies
Google is a third-party vendor on our site. It also uses cookies, known as DART cookies, to serve ads to our site visitors based upon their visit to techsilico.com and other sites on the internet.
Visitors may choose to decline the use of DART cookies by visiting the Google Ad and Content Network Privacy Policy at: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Third-party ad servers or ad networks use technologies like cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons that are used in their respective advertisements and links that appear on TechSilico, which are sent directly to users' browsers. They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. These technologies are used to measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns and/or to personalize the advertising content that you see on websites that you visit.
4. Web Analytics & Measurement
We use web analytics tools, including Google Analytics, to understand how visitors engage with our editorial content, spec comparisons, and buying guides. Analytics cookies collect aggregated, non-personally identifiable information such as page views, session duration, operating systems, and device viewport dimensions.
IP anonymization is enforced across all analytics tags, ensuring individual visitors cannot be personally identified through analytics telemetry.
5. Data Retention Policy
TechSilico retains collected data only as long as necessary to provide editorial services and operational integrity:
- Server Logs: Standard HTTP server access logs (IP addresses, user agents) are retained for a maximum of 90 days for cybersecurity and DDoS mitigation before automated rotation and permanent erasure.
- Analytics Telemetry: Aggregated, pseudonymous analytics event logs are set to expire and automatically purge after a maximum retention period of 14 months.
- Reader Correspondence: Direct emails and contact form inquiries sent to our editorial desks are retained for up to 24 months to maintain editorial errata and correction records.
6. How to Opt Out of Tracking & Personalized Ads
You have full control over your privacy preferences and can opt out of third-party tracking, cookies, and personalized advertising at any time:
- Google Personalized Ads Opt-Out: Visit the Google Ad Settings portal at https://adssettings.google.com to disable interest-based advertising across Google AdSense and partner networks.
- Network Advertising Initiative (NAI): Opt out of third-party ad networks participating in self-regulation via the NAI consumer opt-out tool at https://optout.networkadvertising.org/.
- Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA): Utilize the DAA WebChoices tool at https://optout.aboutads.info/ to control behavioral ad targeting.
- Browser Cookie Controls: You can configure your web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) to block all cookies or notify you when cookies are set. Refer to your browser's “Help” documentation for specific cookie management steps.
7. Commercial Independence & Affiliate Disclosure
TechSilico participates in affiliate marketing programs, including Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and retailer affiliate networks. This means we may earn a commission when you purchase products through our links, at no extra cost to you.
Our participation in affiliate partnerships never influences our editorial synthesis, benchmark conclusions, or product rankings. Winning products in comparisons are determined solely by synthesized testing laboratory consensus. For full details, review our Commercial Independence Policy.
8. GDPR & CCPA Data Protection Rights
We want to ensure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:
- The right to access: You have the right to request copies of any personal data we hold.
- The right to rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate.

9. Children's Information (COPPA)
Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity. TechSilico does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13.
